FEZ “Minsk”

Free economic zone “Minsk” was established in 1998 in order to attract foreign investments to the capital. The FEZ is presented by the capital’s industrial areas, territory of the National Airport “Minsk”, lands of the Minsk and Smolevichi districts. FEZ “Minsk” occupies 1537.3 ha. Creation of the free economic zone allowed to include districts in active production and financial sphere. The main trend of FEZ “Minsk” appeared to be manufacturing of up-to-date export oriented and import substituting products.

 
The FEZ residing companies are provided with tax benefits, allowing to half the level of total taxation. Moreover, they enjoy duty-free import of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and export of self-made finished products.  
 
FEZ “Minsk” has a developed transport infrastructure and skilled personnel.
 
Today, 70 enterprises are registered as FEZ “Minsk” residing companies; all of them are in working order. 22 companies from different countries invested in establishing and development of FEZ “Minsk” residing companies. The main investing countries are Great Britain, Russia, Cyprus, the USA, Germany, Latvia.
 
According to the volumes of self-made products in sectoral structure mastered by FEZ “Minsk” residing companies, the dominating positions belong to engineering and metal working. A proper development can now be noted in chemical and petrochemical industry, communication industry, radioelectronics, wood working industry, furniture making, pulp and paper, printing and construction materials producing industries.
