Currently, 34 enterprises of 12 countries are registered as residents of FEZ “Vitebsk”, with the number of operating residents being 29. The volume of actually invested funds since the moment of FEZ “Vitebsk” foundation amounted to Br88 bn. as of July 1, 2007.

 

Industrial enterprises manufacturing construction materials, foodstuffs, oil-products, apparel, woodworking enterprises, companies producing electronics and veterinary preparations are operating on the territory of the free economic zone. The residents of the Vitebsk FEZ also manufacture chemicals for the agricultural sector, optical-fiber cables, sewage disposal plants and equipment, liquid crystal monitors, products of fur, illuminating devices.

 

One of the successful projects being implemented within FEZ “Vitebsk” is manufacturing of optical-fiber cable. It is the function of the Russian “Souz-Kabel” foreign limited liability company. Almost all products the enterprise manufacture are exported to Russia. For several years of operation, there were $8 mln. USD invested in the production. One of the FEZ residents in 2007 appeared to be the Vitebsk-based “Machine Building Plant “Novmash” CJSC which specializes in oil and gas equipment. Other residents appeared to be “Vityaz” RUPE (television sets), “BELIT PLANT” PPUE (components for TV sets and household appliances), “PEKTO” LLC (pectin and pectin products), “Vifurn” (furniture maker).
